This week on Life@RELX we spoke with Head of Marketing for the Middle East and North Africa, Leina Chedid, as she candidly shares her exhilarating journey and why there’s never a dull moment at RELX.
1. How would you explain your job at RELX?
Making sure that today, we are future ready! I do that by striking the right balance between building a global brand while being a strong advocate for local consumers.
2. What’s your favourite part about being a RELXer?
My favourite part of being a RELXer includes building the RELX legacy in our region from scratch and learning on the go as every day is a new day. Not one day has passed that is similar to the other, which provides a great space to deliver. It’s exciting to always run at full-speed, and that definitely feeds my curiosity.
3. What makes you most effective at work?
The collaboration and the great team spirit across all departments and affiliates at RELX drive my effectiveness. Imagine having to surround yourself with individuals with such can-do attitudes and always on a look out to flag big opportunities for growth.
4. Favourite RELX device colour?
It’s hard to choose one, given the sleek design and amazing colors and touches that the team has put so much effort into. By the way, it’s worth mentioning that we were awarded the Red Dot Design Award in 2020, which I am super proud of! This also explains why it’s hard to choose one color.
5. What are your hobbies outside RELX?
I am a curious person by nature and love to explore new things - whether through traveling to different places or simply discovering hidden gems in my home country. I am a big fan of charity work and quite active on this front across multiple aspects.
6. What gets you through a long day at work?
I ask myself, what’s next? How can we achieve our vision in disrupting the industry and create solutions for tomorrow, today! How will our strategies and ideas translate into new markets?
7. Your top tips for the everyday workplace?
Organize and prioritize! Experience, test and learn. Think big yet pay attention to the details of execution. Most importantly, take a break and snooze to recharge.
